The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing (QCF) from VTCT is an advanced qualification based on National Occupational Standards (NOS), which will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as an advanced hairdresser. Throughout this qualification you will monitor procedures to safely control work operations, provide hairdressing consultation services, creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques and promote additional services or products to clients.

Progression: This is an approved qualification for working as an advanced hairdresser. It also provides a sound platform for further learning or training, including the following VTCT qualifications:
• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Barbering

Course Structure

Mandatory units: you will need to complete all of the following 8 units
• Promote additional services or products to customers
• Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
• Provide hairdressing consultation services
• Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques

Optional units (group1): you will also need to complete at least 4 units from this group, achieving at least 32 credits
Colour hair using a variety of techniques(12 credits)

• Provide colour correction services (13 credits)
• Creatively style and dress hair (4 credits)
• Creatively dress long hair (5 credits)
• Develop and enhance creative hairdressing skills (5 credits)
• Create a variety of permed effects (8 credits)
• Provide creative hair extension services (8 credits)
• Provide specialist consultation services for hair and scalp conditions (5 credits)
• Provide hair and scalp treatments (7 credits)

Optional units (group2): if you select only 4 units from group 1 you will need to complete one of the following
Support customer service improvements (5 credits)

• Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business (4 credits)
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities (5 credits)

Course Fee

The fee for course AH30150 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing 
is £2995.00 (you can pay in full, or spread the cost over up to 12 instalments – see below)
this includes:
• VTCT lifetime registration fees
• VTCT certification fees
• access to free refreshments whilst training
• 1 year’s Hair Council membership upon successful completion

Paying for your course

Course fees can be paid in full, or spread over up to 12 instalments with no fees/interest (more information).  Fees can be paid in cash, by card, BACS, Standing Order etc.

Course Duration

It is our mission to ensure that when Learners complete their course they have have not only competently acquired the required standards, they are what we call ‘Salon Ready’ – confident and experienced to work in a working salon or barbers.  Everybody learns at a different pace, which we accommodate.  Because of this, we don’t have a specific durations for our courses – the time you will take depends on the pace at which you learn, and how frequently you attend.  As a guide, many people could complete this Hairdressing course in approximately 60 full-day lessons – remember, you can attend up to 5 days a week (Tuesday to Saturday), including Thursday evenings. This flexibility allows you to achieve your qualification at your pace and in your timescale, like a fast track course but with no additional fees.  Our course fees allow Learners to attend and train as they like for 18 months until they qualify.  More more information, see our page How We Work.
