Introduction

hairdressing2At LAFHAB we have recognised that some people want to achieve qualifications in both hairdressing and barbering, often because they want to work in, or run, a unisex salon. We have therefore put together a tailored course that combines both NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing with specific units from NVQ Level 2 Barbering, that will offer you a full NVQ qualification in both hairdressing and barbering. The course includes the required units for the full hairdressing NVQ qualification, with 4 relevant barbering units.

Introduction to NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing
This is a job-ready qualification based on National Occupational Standards. This qualification will provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as a hairdresser. Throughout this qualification you will ensure responsibility to reduce risks to health and safety, give customers a positive impression, advise and consult with clients, shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp, change hair colour, cut hair using basic techniques, style and finish hair and set and dress hair.

It is our mission to ensure that when Learners complete their course they have have not only competently acquired the required standards, they are what we call ‘Salon Ready’ – confident and experienced to work in a working salon and barbers.  Everybody learns at a different pace, which we accommodate.  Because of this, we don’t have a specific durations for our courses – the time you will take depends on the pace at which you learn, and how frequently you attend.  As a guide, many people could complete this combined course in approximately 95 full-day lessons – remember, you can attend up to 5 days a week (Tuesday to Saturday), including Thursday evenings. This flexibility allows you to achieve your qualification at your pace and in your timescale, like a fast track course but with no additional fees.  Our course fees allow Learners to attend and train as they like for 24 months until they qualify.  More more information, see our page How We Work.
