Intermediate/Advanced Hairdressing Apprenticeships
Intermediate/Advanced Barbering Apprenticeships

Hairdressing & Barbering Apprenticeships enable you to earn a wage while gaining a recognised qualification and working in a salon.

At LAFHAB we recognise that the best place to learn and develop the practical skills needed to be a great stylist is in the real salon environment, which is why our Academy has a commercial salon attached.  Apprentices who attend our Academy undertake theoretical learning and underpinning knowledge in the classrooms, develop and practice their new skills on training heads then they progress to the Salon where they perform services under the supervision of Tutors and experienced Stylists.

Hairdressing/Barbering Apprentices will need to have a paid position in a Salon or Barbers for a minimum 30 hours per week, and attend our Leeds Academy for 1 day a week.  If you need help in locating a Salon for your Apprenticeship we can support you in finding work in a hairdressing salon as we are in regular contact with salons across Leeds and West Yorkshire.

As an Hairdressing Apprentice, whilst training for your Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma you will work as a salon junior, assisting senior staff while training as a junior stylist.  Whilst at our Academy you will study hairdressing topics such as hair and skin testing, the effects of chemicals on hair and skin, the principles of hair colour selection and promoting products.  Advanced apprentices, training towards their Level 3 Diploma will take their learning a step further by developing their cutting and colouring skills so they can carry out all the latest fashion techniques, and may utimately even determine the fashion chic and looks of the future.

Hairdressing/Barbering Apprentices who have not achieved GCSEs in English & maths to a grade E or above will also undertake Functional Skills alongside their hairdressing training Apprenticeship.

Apprenticeships are offered at 2 levels at which the Apprentice will be taking a course and holding a salon position.

Advanced Hairdressing/BarberingApprenticeship
